Comments

The above quote is taken from a local history, published in 1939. That work cites

William Harris Miller 1907
Histories and Genealogies of the families of Miller, Woods, Harris, Wallace, Maupin, Oldham, Kavanaugh and Brown (illustrated): with interspersions of notes of the families of Danbye, Reid, Martin, Boraddus, Gentry, Jarman, Jameson, Ballard, Mullins, Michie, Moberly, Covington, Browning, Duncan, Yancey and others.

and quotes from it directly, tracing the family back to Person:Michael Woods (1). It seems likely that Miller, 2007, was drawing on Woods, 2005 for information on the Maxwell family, tracing their descent to Person:Michael Woods (1). Johnson, 1p37,provides vanity biographical information records from various local residents. That information may or may not be accurate, and additional work is needed to verify this lineage.
