Transcript:An 1887 Will of Juliet Truax

Testament by Juliet Truax

On this twenty-second day of the month of June, in the year of Our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-seven in the afternoon, Before Mtre. Siméon Noiseux, Notary Public, for the Province of Quebec Canada, residing in the Town of Farnham, in the District of Bedford, and in presence of the hereinafter named and qualified and hereunto subscribing, Came and appeared Dame Juliet Truax, widow of the late David Nelson Ring, in his life-time Yeoman; residing the said Dame, in the Township of Dunham, said District. Who being sound of mind, memory, judgment and understanding as it appeared to us said Notary and witnesses, in the view of death hath requested me said Notary, in presence of said witnesses to receive his present last will and Testament, which she declares to be in the following terms, to wit:

1st, I recommend my soul to Almighty God.
2nd, All my just and lawful debts I order to be paid and wrongs if any to be repared [repaired?].
3rd, I do hereby give devise and bequeath unto my beloved son Mortimer Alonzo Ring, farmer now residing in the said Township of Dunham all and whatever property, both personal, moveables and inmoveables property real estates, ready money and credits without any exception, nor reserve; which I may owned at the time of my decease of whatever nature quantity and quality that me said property may be and whatever place that the same may be found due and situated, hereby to that effect, instituting my said son Mortimer Alonzo Ring my universal legatee.

To have, and to hold, use and enjoy my said property unto my said son, his heirs and assigns; and to enter upon and take possession of the same at the time of my decease in favor of whom of divest myself to seize and vest my said son as aforesaid I do hereby revoking all former wills and codicils that I may have heretofore made particularly the one executed on the thirtieth day of September eighteen hundred and eighty-four before the undersigned Notary: the present being the only one containing my last intentions. Done and passed, in the Town of Farnham, in the office of the undersigned Notary, on the day, month and year above written; under the number three thousand, one hundred and thiry-three of the original records of the said Notary in presence of Messrs. Pierre Pigeon of the Parish of Ste. Césaire farmer and of Alfred Cook laborer both of the Town of Farnham, witnesses called for the purpose hereof. In Testimony whereof the said Testators with the witnesses have signed with the undersigned Notary in presence of each other, and with the express consent of the Testatrix and in her presence, after these presents being first duly read to the Testatrix by me the Notary, in presence of the witnesses. {Signed}: Juliet Ring, Pierre Pigeon, Alfred Cook and S.
