Talk:White Hall School, A Summary

Headings [7 February 2014]

Hello Mm103, great article! I have one small suggestion for you. You may want to consider changing the -- to ==. This will create headings for each of your topics. A sample format would be ==A SHORT HISTORY== --Jennifer (JBS66) 21:35, 21 January 2014 (UTC)

Student list [28 April 2017]

I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I have attempted to add more students to the list on this page following the format so that clicking on them takes you to their person page. However all recent adds are red and when you click on them, they say a person page need s to be built. Does any one know what's wrong I have checked the bracketed numbers and they are correct and the person page already exists. (when I go in from my list tab.)

For most of the red-links, you had an extra ) after the index number, so I removed them. Lucy is still red-linked, but her index number may be incorrect - should she be Person:Lucy English (2)? --Jennifer (JBS66) 20:58, 7 February 2014 (UTC)

Thanks, Consistent errors made consistently!--Mm103 16:20, 8 February 2014 (UTC)

New subject is there a symbol or technique to make columns? I will be adding many names and can't find any how to, on this. attempted just spacing- no good. Have used dash but they print and I don't like the look. however will use until something better comes along. thanks

The best way to do this is using tables - there are instructions here. You can also design the basic layout in Excel and use this site to convert Excel>Wiki, if you choose this method, you'd need to remove the {{table}} text it gives you with table formatting. If you need more help (or if you'd like me to get you started with a sample table), just let me know! --Jennifer (JBS66) 19:59, 8 February 2014 (UTC)
Hello. I am a volunteer admin here and member of our WeRelate:Mentoring team. What an interesting project! Your article looks great. Would you still like some help to re-format the student list into columns (and perhaps sorted alphabetically by surname)? I would be happy to help set it up for you. Also, there are many good tricks you can use to be able to search for and create lists of the WeRelate pages associated with your project, either by using the search engine or the Category you established earlier. Feel free to ask here on this page if you have any questions. Best Wishes! --cos1776 14:41, 28 April 2017 (UTC)
Hello again. I am in receipt of your email regarding links on the pages. I am happy to help. There many ways that you can decide to do this, so perhaps the best way to get started is to know how you would prefer to see a list of the students displayed. Like Jennifer above, I would also suggest creating a table, formatted more or less the same as the one you see in the source. That would give you both a transcript from the source (which is searchable) and a nice listing of page links that take you to each student's page. What are your thoughts about this? Is there a different format that you would prefer? --cos1776 16:35, 5 May 2017 (UTC)
