Distinguishing editions

This edition, published in 1872, is subtitled: "a genealogical history of Edward Spalding of Massachusetts Bay and his descendants."

There is also a later 1897 edition, revised and retitled: " The Spalding memorial : a genealogical history of Edward Spaulding of Virginia and Massachusetts Bay, and his descendants with a record of their military service in the colonial, revolutionary and civil wars, together with information concerning various other branches of the Spalding family."
