This book eventually became Vol. I of "The Acadians in France" series. See also Source pages for Vol. II and Vol. III.

Records included in Vol 1 were created by those families expelled from Acadia 1755-63 who made their way back to France and settled in the northeast ports of La Havre, Cherbourg, St. Malo, and others. Many were impoverished and relied on government support to survive, which led to the creation of bureaucratic records.
