Copied from the Civil War Veteran's Discharge Papers web page in Aug 2013:
As recorded in Book One "Soldier's Discharges" at the Morgan County Clerk's Office, Jacksonville, Illinois. Discharges are in excellent condition. A copy can be obtained by writing the Morgan County Clerk's Office: Barbara J. Gross, County Clerk and Recorder, 300 W. State Street, Jacksonville, Illinois 62650. Copies are $7.00 ($4.00 for an extra copy) plus SASE (Note: Just got a note from someone who sent the court house a check for $7.00 and received $5.00 back, so will check tomorrow and see for sure what the fee should be.) Our thanks to Florence Hutchison for transcribing this index.

Notes: Some soldiers have two discharges recorded in Morgan County records, having been discharged, then re-enlisting for another tour of duty.

A few of these have a reference different from the Soldier's Discharges, Book One - where you see something like Berry, Thomas - Misc A - that means see Misc. Book or Record "A" page 336. If you see - Mort J - that means See Mortgage Book "J".
