Notes published on the site itself:

This site aims to extract and preserve the records from the various parishes and to provide online access to that data, FREE of charge, along with other data of value to family and local historians conducting research in the County of Lancashire. An OnLine Parish Clerk should not be confused with Parish Clerks, who work for parish or town councils.

All the data provided through these pages has been compiled and transcribed by volunteers. OnLine Parish Clerks have often become involved in their particular parish because of their interest in the town or village where their ancestors lived. While some may live in their chosen parish, many do not, indeed many live in other Countries. All OnLine Parish Clerks welcome enquiries and will do their best to help, but please remember their time will always be limited, and that many will be busy transcribing records for their chosen parish.

Data and records are presented from the earliest records that can be found up to approximately the end of the 19th century. At that time there were almost 400 parishes within the pre 1974 county boundaries of Lancashire.

Data is gathered from a multitude of sources, including, though not limited to, parish registers, census records, cemetery records, churchwardens accounts, overseers accounts, land tax records, wills, business directories, postal directories, church and village histories, etc.

This data is provided in a convenient manner totally free of charge for personal and private use only. This data may NOT be reproduced for any commercial purpose.

No warranty is implied or given concerning the accuracy of data on the associated pages, as any transcriptions may be subject to error for a variety of reasons. Sources should be given for all data and users of this data are encouraged to obtain these sources to verify the accuracy where appropriate. --Helen-HWMT 22:25, 14 April 2015 (UTC)
