Anthony Coombs (ca. 1642-ca. 1728), a Huguenot, emigrated from France and arrived at Boston, Massachusetts, ca. 1660. From there he moved to Salem, Massachusetts; to Maine; back to Massachusetts, and ca. 1696 to Rochester, New York. He married Dorcus Wooden of Salem, Massachusetts, at York, Maine, in 1688. They had twelve children, 1689-1710. Shortly after his death at Rochester, most of his family moved back to Maine. Descendants listed lived in Maine, Ohio, New York, Massachusetts, and elsewhere.
