Bibliographic Citation

James, James Allen (ed.), 1912. George Rogers Clark Papers, 1771-1781. Illinois State Historical Library, Springfield Illinois.

InLine Citation

The letters included in this work were written by George Rogers Clark and he is commonly listed as the author. James Allen James, however, edited these letters, and provided copious notes illuminating their content. Either Clark or James might legitimately be described as the "author" of this work. Since the work was published by Allen, long after Clarks death, Allen seems to be the most appropriate author for use in the Inline Citation.
