According to tradition, Peter Acker (ca. 1730-1815) was born in Germany, and immigrated to America, ca. 1750 with his father, William Acker, and brother, William, settling in Hunterdon County, New Jersey. He married Jane Sutherland (ca. 1752-ca. 1825) ca. 1770. They migrated to South Carolina, probably soon after their marriage. They had nine children, ca. 1772-1792, all born in South Carolina. Peter and Jane Acker died in Anderson County, South Carolina. Descendants listed lived in South Carolina, Texas, Alabama, Ohio, Mississippi, Indiana, Virginia, and elsewhere.
