The Southwest Wisconsin Room contains the University Archives, the Area Research Center, and the Southwest Wisconsin Collection. It is located on the first, or ground floor of Ullsvik. Most of the material is non-circulating.
Platteville Area Research Center (ARC)
Through a cooperative arrangement with the State Historical Society of Wisconsin, the Area Research Center contains archival and manuscript materials from the six southwestern Wisconsin counties of Crawford, Grant, Green, Iowa, Lafayette and Richland. The collection also includes records from over 125 area churches. Through an ARC network, archives and manuscripts from other ARCs in the state can be borrowed for use by local patrons.
Southwest Wisconsin Collection
This collection includes printed materials (such as local history books and journals) which supplement historical materials located in the general collection on the third floor. The emphasis is on county histories and other local historical and family records.
A search engine for the on-line catalog for the Karrmann Library allows searches to be restricted to the Southwest Wisconsin Room.
