Scotland's People is a website run by BrightSolid in partnership with the Scottish authorities. Prefers to be known as ScotlandsPeople. This is a pay website.

  • Statutory records of Births, Marriages and Deaths from 1855 onward. (Civil registration started in Scotland in 1855.)
  • Church records of Births/Baptisms and Banns/Marriages from before 1855. All churches of the Church of Scotland (Presbyterian) were obliged to send in copies of their registers.
  • Catholic records of Births/Baptisms and Banns/Marriages from before 1855. Churches available are listed on the website.
  • Other church records of Births/Baptisms and Banns/Marriages from before 1855. Churches available are listed on the website.
  • Census records for Scotland for all censuses from 1841 through 1911.
  • Land records, including assessment records for years ending in 5 commencing at 1855. (Tenants and landowners both given.)
  • Wills and testaments
