The Kansas Society DAR established a research library for its members in 1930. At first, it was a traveling library moving from city to city as new state librarians were elected. In 1959 the State Society voted to place the growing collection in a permanent location in Dodge City, Kansas. In 1993 the library moved to the present location in in Dodge City.
