Place talk:New Amsterdam, New Netherlands

Watchers

Hi Mike,

would you say that it makes sense to use the location "New Amsterdam, New Netherlands" for New Amsterdam before 1674? as opposed to "New Amsterdam, New York?

I was looking at the Wiki site for New Amsterdam, but it didn't seem definitive. Thought I would see what you thought : ) In general, do you tend to use the location as it was at the time of the event? (i.e. New Amsterdam in 1647-1651, and New York for things after 1674) any thoughts? thanks, Amelia J. (the other Amelia : )

I need to delete this page [23 January 2010]

Until I improve place matching I need to delete this page. Places that are being entered as "Amsterdam, Netherlands" are matching to this page instead of to Place:Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands. Sorry.--Dallan 11:19, 23 January 2010 (EST)

no problem Dallan. It was helpful to me for figuring out how to name New Amsterdam, New Netherlands in my own database.

) thanks for all you do, really.
