Hi Mike, would you say that it makes sense to use the location "New Amsterdam, New Netherlands" for New Amsterdam before 1674? as opposed to "New Amsterdam, New York? I was looking at the Wiki site for New Amsterdam, but it didn't seem definitive. Thought I would see what you thought : ) In general, do you tend to use the location as it was at the time of the event? (i.e. New Amsterdam in 1647-1651, and New York for things after 1674) any thoughts? thanks, Amelia J. (the other Amelia : ) [add comment] [edit] I need to delete this page [23 January 2010]Until I improve place matching I need to delete this page. Places that are being entered as "Amsterdam, Netherlands" are matching to this page instead of to Place:Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands. Sorry.--Dallan 11:19, 23 January 2010 (EST) no problem Dallan. It was helpful to me for figuring out how to name New Amsterdam, New Netherlands in my own database.
