A Vision of Britain through Time provides the following description of Wigmore Hundred from John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales of 1870-72:
- "WOLPHY, a hundred in the N of Hereford[shire]; containing 24 parishes and 5 parts. Acres: 47,075. Population: 7,962. Houses: 1,647."
If the original map on which this sketch is based is blown up to a much higher magnification, you will find it includes many places in Herefordshire discussed on these pages. The rivers and ranges of hills are also shown.
