Wincobank is a suburb of Sheffield Metropolitan Area, located in the north-east of the city in the Shiregreen and Brightside ward, overlooking the nearby Meadowhall shopping centre and the Tinsley Viaduct.
Prior to 1974 Wincobank was within the West Riding of Yorkshire and formed part of the Ecclesfield ecclesiastical and civil parish.
More information about the area in the 19th century can be found in the transcription from Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales of 1870-72 reproduced under Ecclesfield.
