This Ordnance Survey map of 1900 from A Vision of Britain through Time locates all the original rural districts established in Wiltshire in 1894. In 1934 there were a number of mergers of neighbouring districts.

Westbury and Whorwellsdown Rural District was on the western edge of Wiltshire with Somerset across the county border. To the north were the rural districts of Bradford on Avon and Melksham, to the east that of Devizes, and to the south that of Warminster. Westbury and Whorwellsdown Rural District existed from 1894 until 1934 when it became part of the Warminster and Westbury Rural District.
