Warmley Rural District existed in Gloucestershire from 1894 until 1974. It was located in the very south of the county with Somerset as its southern boundary. Other boundaries were with Kingswood (near Bristol) to the west, and Chipping Sodbury (later Sodbury) Rural wrapping around on the north and east. Until 1927 it included Mangotsfield, part of which became an urban district in that year. Mangotsfield was then divided into two civil parishes named Mangotsfield Urban which was synonomous with the urban district, and Mangotsfield Rural which covered the rest of the previous civil parish and remained in Warmley Rural District.

In 1974 the whole of the rural district was transferred to the new county of Avon and, along with Kingswood and Mangotsfield formed the Borough of Kingswood. When Avon was abolished in 1996, the Borough of Kingswood merged with the neighbouring Northavon District to form the unitary authority of South Gloucestershire.
