Urk is a municipality (gemeente) in Flevoland, Netherlands. It was an island in the Zuiderzee from the 13th century until a dike joined it to the mainland in 1939. Before 1950 it was a part of Noord-Holland and from 1950 until the establishment of the Province of Flevoland in 1986 it was part of Overijssel.
