Tittesworth originated as a township in the ancient parish of Leek. It became a civil parish in 1866 and joined Leek Rural District in 1894. Since 1974 it has been part of the Staffordshire Moorlands non-metropolitan District in Staffordshire, England.

A Vision of Britain through Time provides the following description of Tittesworth from John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales of 1870-72:

"TITTISWORTH, a township in Leek parish, Stafford; 2 miles NE by N of Leek. Real property: £3,792. Population in 1851: 606; in 1861: 1,227. Houses: 269."
