Sylvan Springs is a town in Jefferson County, Alabama, United States. It is part of the Birmingham–Hoover–Cullman Combined Statistical Area. At the 2000 census the population was 1,465. This area was damaged by an F5 tornado on April 8, 1998 including the First United Methodist Church of Sylvan Springs.
