Surgoinsville is a town in Hawkins County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,484 at the 2000 census. In 2003 the estimated population was 1,691. It is part of the Kingsport–Bristol (TN)–Bristol (VA) Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is a component of the Johnson City–Kingsport–Bristol, TN-VA Combined Statistical Area – commonly known as the "Tri-Cities" region. The community served as a location for some scenes from the film The River.
