St. Margaret Extra was created in 1894 from part of the ancient and civil parish of Rochester St. Margaret and became part of Medway Rural District until 1905 when the rural district was abolished. (Source:A Vision of Britain through Time)

It is assumed that the area covered by St. Margaret Extra was outside the bounds of Rochester and that it was absorbed back into Rochester in 1905.
