Speed is a town in Edgecombe County, North Carolina, United States. It is part of the Rocky Mount, North Carolina Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 70 at the 2000 census. The town of Speed was founded by Andrew Jackson Parker Sr. It was named after the town doctor Eugene Travis Speed Sr.
