Less than 1 mile (1.6 km) to its north of the village is the hamlet and manor house of Littlestoke (or Stoke Marmion). In the 2001 UK census the parish had a population of 458.

Isambard Kingdom Brunel built Moulsford Railway Bridge in 1839-40.

Littlestoke

Littlestoke is a hamlet on the River Thames sometimes seen in texts as "Little Stoke". It is located on the old road that linked Wallingford and Reading via Goring Heath.

Littlestoke has a manor house, still a farmhouse with a smaller estate than previously, which has three outlying associated barns, listed for their architecture.

Until at least 1920 A ferryman used to be available to cross the Thames to Cholsey.
