Scagglethorpe is a village and civil parish in the Ryedale district of North Yorkshire, England. It is situated just south from the A64 road, 3 miles (5 km) east from Malton and almost mid-way between the City of York and the town of Scarborough.
Prior to the nationwide municipal reorganization of 1974, Scagglethorpe was located in Norton Rural District. Historically, it was a detached portion of the ecclesiastical parish of Moor Monkton, one of the parishes in the Ainsty Wapentake surrounding the City of York. However, during the 19th century, for civil purposes, it was part of the Malton Rural Sanitary District and Poor Law Union within the Buckrose Wapentake.
