Research Tips

Hemnes was a parish in Høland municipality (from at least the late 19th century until the early 20th century), along with Løken and Setskog. In 1905, Setskog became a separate municipality, and in 1924, Høland was split into Nordre Høland (which probably corresponds more-or-less with Løken) and Søndre Høland (which probably corresponds more-or-less with Hemnes). In 1966, Nordre and Søndre Høland and Setskog were merged with Aurskog to form the new municipality of Aurskog-Høland.
