Township of Brookfield

Brookfield is a township in the county of Noble, state of Ohio, United States of America. It is bordered in Noble County by the townships of Noble to the east, Sharon to the south; in Morgan County, Manchester to the south, Bristol to the southwest; in Muskingum County, Meigs to the west, Rich Hill to the northwest; and in Guernsey County, Spencer.


Brookfield was initially organized by the commissioners of Morgan County in 1819. It was taken from Morgan County when Noble County was erected and organized in 1851.


On 1 May 1851, the commissioners of Noble County altered the township's boundaries, making them as follows:

Commencing at the southeast corner of section 35 in township 7, of range 10; thence north along the section line to the northeast corner of section 2, in said township and range; thence west along said township line to the northwest corner thereof; thence south along said township line to the soutwest corner thereof; thence east along said township line to the place of beginning; containing thirty sections.
