Preston le Skerne is now a hamlet in the civil parish of Mordon, County Durham, in England. It is situated a short distance to the east of Newton Aycliffe. This transfer to Mordon civil parish took place after 1974.

Preston le Skerne was originally a township in the ancient parish of Aycliffe in County Durham. It became a separate civil parish in 1866. From 1894 it was part of Sedgefield Rural District. Between 1974 and 2009 it became part of the larger Sedgefield non-metropolitan district. Since 2009 County Durham has been a unitary authority.
