Preston Vital Records Transcript at the Connecticut State Library and NEHGS

"The vital record series of the town of Preston consists of eight volumes and in this book is a list alphabetically arranged of the original entries. In the first four volumes every entry is taken. Volumes 5 and 8 contain in tabulated form the births, deaths and marriages from 1848 to 1867, and the following entries only from these volumes appear: the births prior to December 31, 1850, the marriages prior to December 31, 1850, and all the deaths, the last entry being December 22, 1867. Volumes 6 and 7 are a recent compilation of matter gleaned principally from the records of the First Church, the Second Church, the Separatists' Church and the private marriage record of Justice Samuel Nott. These records contain marriages and baptisms and are said to be not recorded in the other volumes of town records. They have been completely indexed and are listed in a separate alphabet beginning on page 224.

The following list was made from a set of cards based on a copy of the Preston Vital Records made in 1910 by James N. Arnold, of Providence, R. I. The Arnold Copy, now in the possession of the Connecticut State Library, has not been compared with the original and doubtless errors exist. It is hoped that as errors or omissions are found notes will be entered in this volume and on the cards which are included in the General Index of Connecticut Vital Records also in the possession of the Connecticut State Library.

Hartford, Conn., May, 1919"
