Powhatan County is a county located in the U.S. state — officially, "Commonwealth" — of Virginia. As of the 2000 census, the population was 22,377. Its county seat is Powhatan6. The county is named for the Indian Chief Powhatan, father of Pocahontas.
It is located in the Richmond-Petersburg region and is a portion of the Richmond Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA).
