Portchester is a locality and suburb 6 km (4 mi) northwest of Portsmouth in Hampshire, England. It is part of the District or Borough of Fareham. Once a small village, Portchester is now a busy part of the expanding conurbation between Portsmouth and Southampton on the A27 main thoroughfare. Its population according to the 2001 Census was approximately 17, 000.

Portchester was a civil parish within the Fareham Rural District from 1894 until 1932. In 1932 it ceased to be a separate civil parish and its area was divided between Fareham Urban District and Portsmouth County Borough with Fareham receiving close to 90% of the area.
