Portchester is a locality and suburb 6 km (4 mi) northwest of Portsmouth in Hampshire, England. It is part of the District or Borough of Fareham. Once a small village, Portchester is now a busy part of the expanding conurbation between Portsmouth and Southampton on the A27 main thoroughfare. Portchester was a civil parish within the Fareham Rural District from 1894 until 1932. Obviously, according to Wikipedia, nothing has happened in Portchester in the past 1500 years.
