Polperro (meaning Pyra's cove) is a village and fishing harbour on the south-east Cornwall coast in South West England, UK, within the civil parish of Lansallos. It is situated on the River Pol, 4 miles (6 km) west of the neighbouring town of Looe and west of the major city and naval port of Plymouth, it is well known for its idyllic location, surrounded by tightly packed old fishermen's houses which makes it attractive to tourists, and particularly in the summer months.
One of the many maps available on A Vision of Britain through Time is one from the Ordnance Survey Series of 1900 illustrating the parish boundaries of Cornwall at the turn of the 20th century. This map blows up to show all the parishes and many of the small villages and hamlets.
