Research Tips

Norwood was historically a chapelry in the parish of Hayes, but became a separate parish in the middle ages. In 1894 the parish of Norwood became the Urban District of Southall Norwood, which in turn became a Municipal Borough in 1936, at which point it dropped the name Norwood from its title. Southall Municipal Borough became part of the London Borough of Ealing in 1965.
