Norden has been, since 1974, a suburb within the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale, in Greater Manchester, England.

From 1894 until 1933 it was an urban district of over 5,000 acres in Lancashire. In 1933 it was split between Heywood Municipal Borough and Rochdale County Borough.

The main road through the village is the A680 Edenfield Road, which runs from Rochdale town centre to the village of Edenfield in Lancashire.
