I visited the old Noble residence in the wintertime a few years ago while gathering information from my relatives in Maine. It is situated where the seedling town of Nobles Corner once grew. The Noble family ran a store there in the middle of the 19th century. These days there is only the original Noble residence, a traditional Maine line house consisting of one room connected to another starting from a large kitchen and family room in the back to formal living areas in the front. There were still Noble descendants living there, although they are no longer named Noble. Someone said that they were bypassed by the railroads, or maybe the highways, or maybe both. In any event there is no village there now, just the one house standing at a crossroads. People in that part of the country like their snowmobiles in the wintertime.
