Muhlenberg County, Kentucky

Muhlenberg county was formed in 1799. It is located in the Western Coal Field region of the state. The elevation in the county ranges from 355 to 760 feet above sea level. County Seat

Greenville, the seat of Muhlenberg county, is located near the center of the county on US 62. It was founded in 1799 on land donated by William Campbell when the county was formed and named for General Nathanael Greene. The site is southeast of Caney Station, an earlier settlement. Muhlenberg County, founded in 1798, is a county located in the U.S. state of Kentucky. As of the 2010 Census, the population was 31,499. The county is named for Peter Muhlenberg. Its county seat is Greenville.

The Central City Micropolitan Statistical Area includes all of Muhlenberg County. Central City is the largest city in the county with a 2010 Census of 5,978 residents.
