Middlethorpe is a hamlet in the unitary authority of City of York in North Yorkshire, England.

The village was made a Conservation Area in 1975. Middlethorpe Hall dates from 1699 and Middlethorpe Manor from about 1700.

Middlethorpe was situated in Bishopthorpe Rural District until 1937, and in Tadcaster Rural District Council 1937-1974. It was also in the wapentake of the Ainsty through the 19th century.

GENUKI, in a transcription from a gazetteer of the 1820s, describes Middlethorpe as being in the parish of York St Mary Bishophill The Elder and the seat of Andrew Barlow, Esq. It was 2 miles south of York with a population of 44 people.
