Metzger is a census-designated place and unincorporated community, in Washington County. As of the 2000 census, the CDP population was 3,354. Its name is derived from the German word for "butcher".

History

Herman Metzger platted the community, which was actively marketed from 1908–1909. The south branch of the Oregon Electric Railway passed through the community, and had a stop that was located off Locust Street east of Jefferson.
