This Ordnance Survey map of 1900 from A Vision of Britain through Time locates all the original rural districts established in Wiltshire in 1894. In 1934 there were a number of mergers of neighbouring districts. Melksham Rural District was a small rural district in the central part of the Wiltshire. It was located east of Bradford on Avon Rural District and west Devizes Rural District. To the north was Chippenham Rural District and to the south Westbury and Whorwellsdown Rural District. Melksham Rural District existed from 1894 until 1934 when it became part of the Bradford and Melksham Rural District. [edit] List of Parishes
