Matinecock is a village located within the Town of Oyster Bay in Nassau County, on Long Island, in New York, United States. The population was 810 at the 2010 census. [edit] History
The village was incorporated in 1928. In May 1998, Worth Magazine ranked Matinecock as the fifth richest town in America and the richest town in New York. The village is named for the Matinecock Nation, which inhabited much of the area.[1] "Matinecock" roughly translates to "the Hill Country," and was the Matinecock Nation's name for much of the area.[1] [edit] Research Tips
