A Vision of Britain through Time provides this descripton of Little Edstone from John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales (1870-1872):

"EDSTONE (Little), a township in Sinnington parish, [North Riding of] Yorkshire; 1 mile NE of Great Edstone. Acres, 790. Pop., 21. Houses, 2."

Prior to the nationwide municipal reorganization of 1974, Little Edstone was a civil parish in Kirkbymoorside Rural District. Historically, it was located in the ecclesiastical parish of Sinnington in the Rydale Wapentake.
