Lake of the Woods is an unincorporated area and census-designated place (CDP) in Kern County, California. The population was 917 at the 2010 census, up from 833 at the 2000 census. The community is contained in Cuddy Canyon along the Ventura and Kern County line inside the Los Padres National Forest. It is served by the Frazier Park, California, post office. The name was bestowed by pioneer Mrs. Florence Cuddy when the community was established in 1925.
