"Old" Kommadagga (+- 1953) comprised a farm house, general store & gas station at the local cross-roads at that time - since re-aligned to be some distance away. Not sure whether there were other residences there prior. In the early 1950's the railroad company (South Africa Railways) established a construction camp/town immediately NW of the general store. May have been over a thousand residents, with elementary school and recreation hall. all were employed on building a new rail line. The 'new' Kommadagga rail station is some distance NE of the old town. After a few years the town was up-rooted and moved north, to the next section of rial line construction. Fond memories growing up in this environment.
