From the Gazetteer for Scotland:

"Kirkconnell comprises the Kirkconnell Merse and Kirkconnell Flow by the River Nith and Kirkconnell House, 6 miles (10 km) south of Dumfries. Kirkconnell House is an extension of a tower house that was a stronghold of the Maxwells. An 18th-century addition to the house was built of bricks made on the estate."

Kirkconnell was located in the parish of New Abbey in the former County of Kirkcudbrightshire in southwest Scotland. This area is now part of the unitary authority called the Dumfries & Galloway Council Area.
