1700 - King William Parish was formed for the French Protestant refugees at Manakin towne in Henrico county

1728 - Goochland county was formed from Henrico County ; the parish served both counties

1749 - Cumberland county was formed from Goochland county and Chesterfield county from Henrico county ; the parish served only the new counties (Cumberland and Chesterfield)

1777 - Powhatan county was formed from Cumberland county ; the parish served all three counties (Cumberland, Chesterfield, and Powhatan)
