Research Tips

  • The Genealogy center for Kamouraska is located in La Pocatiere. It contains many primary documents, "contraits de marriage"; feudal land grant documents; and many family histories.
  • This area is about 45 miles long, on the South Shore of the St. Lawrence River about an hour and a half east of Quebec City. This is truly French speaking Quebec, documents are in French only, and the people in the community truly do not have English fluency. The small towns are lovely and everyone is friendly.
