Until 1901 High Wych was a hamlet in the parish of Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire. In that year it became a parish in its own right and was located first in Hadham Rural District, and then, after 1935, in Braughing Rural District. Since 1974 it has been part of the East Hertfordshire District.
