NOTE: There are at least five places in Yorkhsire named Grimston and this increases to ten when you include Grimstone, North Grimston, Grimston Grange, etc.

GENUKI identifies Grimston as a hamlet in the parish of Kirkby Wharfe, and the Wapentake of Barkston Ash, situated 1-1/2 miles south of Tadcaster, with a population of 62 (data from a gazetteer of the 1820s). Some information is provided about the gentry families.
