A Vision of Britain through Time provides the following description of Frenze from John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales of 1870-72:

"FRENZE, a parish in Depwade [registration] district, Norfolk; on the S border of the county, and on an affluent of the river Waveney, near Diss [railway] station, 1½ mile E by N of Diss. Post town: Scole. Acres: 399. Real property: £600. Population: 49. Houses: 11. The property is divided among a few. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Norwich. Value: £7 0. Patron: S. Smith, Esq. The church has eight brasses of the Blenhaysetts; and is good."

A Vision of Britain through Time also states that Frenze was an ancient parish and a civil parish "until early" and was united with Scole.

Research Tips

  • Ancestry.co.uk has the following lists as of 2018 (UK or worldwide Ancestry membership or library access required). With the exception of the index to wills these files are browsible images of the original documents. The files are separated by type and broken down into time periods (i.e., "Baptism, Marriages, and Burials, 1535-1812" is more than one file). The general explanatory notes are worth reading for those unfamiliar with English parish records.
